About Our Food:
Our menus are designed to provide nutritious and delicious meals that people of all ages will enjoy eating. Our preparations comply with the nutritional requirements for Child Nutrition programs and SNAP purchases. Items are taste-tested and approved by grade-level focus groups before landing on the menu.
- Students and neighborhood residents are our primary customers: pleasing them is our business.
- Our personal and professional backgrounds inform our school meal concept: first and foremost, what is on the plate must look good and taste wonderful.
- Introducing new flavors and textures to a young, yet evolving palate requires a subtle, artful hand. For example, incorporating fruit, vegetable, and alternative protein purees into preparations
- Popular fast food-type items, e.g., chicken nuggets, tacos, and pizza, are retooled to improve nutritional content while retaining the essential character of each dish.
- Our meals can be customized to fit students’ different life-style requirements: for example, pre-ordered box lunch preparations that support athletic activities and healthy weight-loss.
